Holy Macaroni (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we collect through www.holymacaroni.co.za, WhatsApp, email and our stores, why we collect it and how we protect it, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
This notice covers the Holy Macaroni family of brands: Holy Macaroni (Newlands and Sea Point stores), Holy Macaroni Events, the Fork It Food Truck, Holy Platter Co. and Curbside Coffee.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Responsible party: Holy Macaroni, Cape Town, South Africa
Information Officer: Ronald Goosen
Email: hello@holymacaroni.co.za
2. What we collect
- Quote and event enquiries (our Get a Quote form, WhatsApp or email): your name, cell number, email address, event date, venue or suburb, number of guests, type of event and what you would like us to cater.
- Orders placed by WhatsApp or phone: your name, cell number, order details and collection time.

- Website usage information collected automatically through cookies and similar tools: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location (city or country), how you arrived at our site, and whether you tapped a WhatsApp button or submitted a form. This does not identify you by name.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect special personal information (such as health, religious or biometric information) other than dietary or allergy notes you choose to give us so that we can cater safely.
3. Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, prepare quotes, confirm bookings and fulfil your orders.
- To deal with questions, feedback and complaints.
- To understand how our website is used so that we can improve it.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We only send you marketing messages if you have asked for them or are an existing customer, and every marketing message will give you a simple way to opt out.
4. Cookies and website tools
Our website uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure visits, Google reCAPTCHA to protect our forms from spam, and the Meta (Facebook) pixel to understand visits from our social media. These services may set cookies and process information on servers outside South Africa. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website will still work.
5. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We only share it where needed with:
- service providers who help us run our business, such as our website host and developer, email and WhatsApp services, and Google and Meta for the website tools above;
- event partners or suppliers only where needed to deliver your booking, and only with your knowledge;
- authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. Where this happens we rely on providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements offering protection similar to POPIA.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and booking information for as long as needed to provide our services and then for up to 5 years for tax and accounting purposes, unless the law requires otherwise. Unsuccessful enquiries are deleted within 12 months.
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) website connections, password-protected accounts and limiting access to staff who need it.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct or delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Email hello@holymacaroni.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
9. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
